Do I really need a .375 H&H ?

I know exactly how you feel, I just couldn't get this guy out of the river, despite my best efforts so I had to fall back on my 700 Rem in 375 H&H. He became quite compliant after the loud bang...........

What else could I do.......................?

And for those who are wondering that is NOT a smile it's a grimace, as I'm kneeling on a scorpion...........

Same goes for this little lizard, could not entice him out of the water, so....................

No scorpions around this time............Much better picture of the 375.....

Geez, here I am following every word from you guys, lulled into believing that you are fountains of wisdom and experience...and then you go and claim that you slew these big mutts using a push-feed?

Preposterous! Impossible! Everybody knows that!

Next thing you know, you'll be claiming it can be done with a .375 Ruger!!! :)

I'm sort of bi-feedual. While I do have a soft spot for CRFs I'm enough of a realist to admit that if something works, it works.

Hey that's plagiarism, I coined the word bi-feedual...............and ya the Rem push feeds work just fine, even hanging upside down if you don't doddle about !!! Besides if you make the first one count there is no need for a hurried second shot, hence no great detriment to a push feed.

Yep, I stoler, but I think you were talking about me when you coined it.

I've never worried overly much about working the action while hanging upsidedown, nor short stroking though people do manage to do it. There are little things like picking how far the brass flies, finding a badly sized cartridge that doesn't want to chamber and being able to simply reverse direction and get it out of there. I've had plunger ejectors stick down from dirt or metal shavings. That doesn't happen on actions that don't have one. A speck of sand behind the extractor on a Remington can stop it dead in its tracks when the extractor won't jump the rim, and when you discover the problem its because theres a shell in the chamber that you can't close the bolt on, and can't get out without a rod. They are just little situations that don't happen a lot, but you could get out of with without tools on a rifle that copied a Mauser. Then there's striker blocking safeties, something that in some situations are worth their weight in ulcer pills.

I have more push feeds than CRFs and a lot of those are Remingtons, so it isn't something I plan my life around. In the odd instance it might make a difference in which rifle goes on a particular trip.

That was the intent on the resolution for this year. But hey, I'm not hooked!! I think something got lost in the translation. Legal counsel informs me, two little slips doesn't show intent and so, shouldn't be held against me:).
