Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors -Manitoba

Is anyone even getting through to the CFO's office? Just want to ask if, after 6 weeks, anyone's even bothered to look at my PAL application. Phone goes straight to busy. Hate to be anyone needing a STATT these days.

I've been studying up with both course guides and the videos, however I simply don't have the free time to go attend both courses so I will be challenging the exams once I feel competent.

I would like to get some hands on experience with various firearm styles, would anyone be available to help me out with this during an evening?
Does not have to include firing the firearms at a range.
I'd like to focus on the different safety types and different action types, but if you have other pointers I'm open to hear that as well.

It's odd, the service used to be excellent. The person that I always dealt with has taken a job elsewhere. I sent an iquiry via email and the reply that came a few days later said for me to call the office. I replied that I'd prefer and answer in writting as anything said on the phone is here say. I got no response, so I guess I'll have to follow it up and CC my MP and that DB who is the new Towes....you know, the @$$ hat that signed of on the most recent gun ban...yeah, that DB.

I got an email through and they called me back in a short timeframe, so that was good. Need to contact them next for the LTATT, we'll see how that goes.

Anyone know of a thread that would list or recomend shooting ranges in manitoba? I have heard of a new one opening up near me - in the anola / beausejour area, but this may be just an urban legend...like gas priced under a buck a liter and income tax cuts.

The MB rifle association had a table setup this past weekend. Told me to come out in May when the range is active and try shooting. I'll definitely be taking them up on that.

I'm also probably going to get a membership at The Firing Line. I know they allow guests. I'm new to the scene as well though.

Hey I just got my PAL in and have bought an SKS and a Ruger 10/22 Takedown, and live in Winnipeg.
Would anyone like to take me and a friend out to a quarry and "show us the ropes"?
I have some experience shooting a .22 at X-treme, so I'm not a complete newb, but would like to get some assistance for a first time in the wild situation.
Thanks!

Has anyone heard of a range near Portage La Prairie just off Flea Island Road? is this a recognized range by the MB CFO?

Hey guys. Would anyone want to take a noob out to the gravel pits or anywhere else this week/weekend?
I just bought a Savage Mark II FVXP and wanted to start the break in process.
I'm fairly new to shooting and have never been anywhere outside of my gun club where I shoot my Glock 17 and CZ 75. I would go by myself but I'm not too familiar with the Seddon's Corner area and not sure where I can shoot.
When I google it, all I see are images of off roaders.

Any help would be appreciated.
