Shorten PAL Approval Times

Which site are you checking your application with? The one that requires a secure sign in or the one I linked in my timeline? (https://secure.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/eCFISIWS/editLicenceQueryAuthentication.do) I was using the secure sign-in one and getting the same messages you were. I only knew my application was entered by my credit card being charged. So I phoned in to get my application number. I found that second link after - it's much simpler to use.

Thanks! This one actually gives me some info about my application
Right now it says "Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date." Which still is annoying but at least I'm not wondering if it got dropped behind a desk somewhere.

Glad to help. Shouldn't be too long now. I'd call them if you haven't heard in a few days.

Here's my timeline:

January 11-12: Did nonrestricted course
January 15: Challenged restricted
January 23: Received by CFC
February 20: Called to check, did interview on the spot
February 22: Reference called, did interview
March 13: Called to check, spoke with a great agent and she flipped the switch, RPAL approved and license number now online.

I was told that my application did NOT have to go to the BC CFO for review and they are only doing one reference interview right now.

Should have my card soon.

Going out tonight to try out the Winchester 1886 I'm acquiring from a friend once my plastic arrives.

49 days from receipt (I sent via regular mail from Yukon) to approval. I'm sure I could have sped it up a bit if I had called back sooner.

Wahoo!

Wanted to share my story, went surprisingly smooth compared to what I had prepared for after reading some of the awful wait times here.

Did my cfsc on January 24th, RPAL application sent in regular mail on January 31. Application was typed out and read over to ensure it was neat and everything was correct.

Checked online status regularly after about two weeks since sending it in. Nothing ever showed up to this date so I called in. Waited on hold about 12 minutes to speak to a very friendly officer. Expected bad news like application was never received, or to be transferred for an interview at best-scenario. Instead I was told my license was issued today and will be sent out shortly.

RPAL application sent January 31, Issued March 13. No interview and no references called, which I found odd for RPAL application. I am in Saskatchewan. Now just the wait until I get that card in my hands, hope it isn't too long.

OMG...
I just did my interview and was told it will be processed tonight and I should have it in 10 days...

Application was received at CFC on Dec 30th, 2013 and today 54 working days later the wait is finally over...

I am so surprised after reading how long some people in Kebec have waited...

No comes the hard part... What to buy ?

I'm in Quebec, that's why I'm so surprised...I was not expecting to do my interview until maybe next month...

Just to make things clear, can you confirm if all these facts are accurate : You're in Quebec, They received your application December 30th 2013, you did your Interview today March 13th 2014 ?

Was it for a PAL or RPAL ? and was it for a first time application or renewal ?

Yes I live in Quebec.. Yes I did my interview today and I checked online and is says my application has been approved and I should be receiving it in the next two weeks. Yes it was received at the CFC on Dec 30th, 2014.

First time application for RPAL and just in case you ask, No I did not have my PAL before, ever...

And again I am shocked, and amazed...

Wow ok congrats man, now time to spend some money i guess ! .. Mine was received on December 12th and still nothing, i'm going to call them tomorrow and will not accept to hang up until they put me through to someone that will do something... it makes no sens to me that requests are not being treated in the order they are received. This is madness..

I actually call the SQ/CFO just after lunch today and mentioned that it's been 54 day and wondered if there was something wrong with my application. This was my third call to them over the last three week. I was expecting the same old B/S "we will call you in 2/3 weeks. But instead the person who answer my call said they would be calling me before the end of March..(2 to 3 weeks from now) same story different way of telling me to leave them alone. So yes I was shocked when one of my ref called me just before 7 pm tonite to let me know they were interviewed..then around 7:20 pm they called me..
And now it's done...

I followed this reference for my application (non restricted )in alberta and i was appoved today ! App recived feb 6 , came online march 6 and approved mar 13 my licence should be in my grubby hands in two or so weeks . I was told they were one month behind because of the amount of applications being sent in but it didnt seem to affect mine . The process i took was .

-Called two weeks after i sent it in to make sure there was no missing or incorrect info .
-Called once a week to check status and to ask about the info .
-Once app came online i called and found out it was sent to the alberta CFO
- called CFO and app was approved on the spot .

I have no criminal history and non of my references were called neither did i have a phone interview unless my call counted but i wasnt asked any questions besides to hold for a backround check ( this the norm ?)

Thanks for the great advise !!

Hey guys n gals.
Sent in my application for non-restricted all compleye and with payment. 20 days later I was able to see it online. At 24 days it says that the initial processing has been complete. Now at 48 days all they tell me is it is with the cfo. So I called the cfo at extension 6000 and left a message yesterday. A lady called this morning and said it is sitting with the cfo in fredericton and possibly that it could be flagged or there are details on it that need I investigation. SHOULD I BE WORRIED???

Background: i am a model canadian. No criminal record. No pending anything. Just speeding tickets. BUT I was not always canadian and born elsewhere.

Ok Folks ... There has been some minor, but still appreciated, development !

Here's my incredible adventure timeline :

(Day -4) Dec 8 : Mailed Paperwork
(Day 1) Dec 12 : Received by the RCMP, Case opened
(Day 28) Jan 8 : CC was charged, request appeared online.
(Day 44) Jan 24 : Called Miramichi - "Your application has ben sent to the Quebec CFO, still in progress"
(Day 51) Jan 31 : Called Miramichi - "It's a RESTRICTED PAL so it's 60 days, not 45, still in progress"
(Day 51) Jan 31 : Called CFO - "Everything is normal and under standard procedure, please expect a phone call soon"
(Day 54) Feb 03 : Called CFO for my interview - "Not the time yet, wait until the interview team calls you within 2-3 weeks, we are treating a lot of requests"
(Day 57) Feb 06 : Called CFO to see for my interview (again) - "Not yet the time for your interview, THEY will call you, 2-3 weeks. They are very busy"
(Day 71) Feb 20 : Called Miramichi - "Your request is in the final stage at the Quebec CFO, thanks for calling.."
(Day 72) Feb 21 : Called CFO - "Sir, you called several times, it won't change anything. Everything is in order, WE WILL call you back within 2 weeks"
(Day 93) Mar 13 : Called CFO - "Please hold the line" ... "Thank you for holding, what phone number can we easily reach you at ?" ... "Thank you, you will be called in 24-28hres"

Don't forget they quote 60 days (60 Working days) and there are only 20 working days per month.

McButterpants,
Now I noticed why your behind me.. My CC was charged On Jan 6th, 6 days after it appeared online.. Yours was 28 days after received and case opened...the person who had your file was on vacation I'm assuming..
But the end is near, they should be calling you tonite or Monday.
