Hi

I would like to Know if they'r is an interest in actions like the McMillan 50 BMG repeater action?

Is they'r people looking to build a custom 50 cal, would it be a market for such action?

Same action that McMillan use in the TAC-50 just some option that are not the same(bolt knob/rail)
Proven design and MASIVE. Around 8.5 pound , 12 inch lenght.

I have played with a build rifle in the states Last summer and i like the action and the feel of the mechanism. High quality.

here one video of shotshow 2012 from firearmguide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAKtOd_lZJc

The interest is there... I'd like to play with a bit of .50 BMG. I'm a little confused though... doesn't "repeater" tend to refer to an semi or automatic action? The Tac-50 is just a bolt action. I would only ever be interested in a manual, bolt action for fifty... ever.

There is some interest, but it is not nearly as high as some others. We have plans to build a larger version of our Maverick action which is very similar to what the McMillan actions is.
The problem with 50 cal and Canada is that 50 cal is much more expensive to shoot or own and to most guys spending $4.50 to $6.00 for "cheap" ammo is a major turn off. That and the few places we can shoot them makes it doubly hard to justify.

Not to mention the cost of the McMillan action, plus the crappy Canadian dollar rite now, and the cost of import fees. Put that together and i bet you could buy a PGW 50BMG mag fed action for less money and have it much sooner!!!

When you can buy a complete PGW mag feed 50BMG in a very nice and tactical cadex chassis for around $8,000 why even bother trying to get in a McMillan action. Also you can get the PGW actions in single shot if you like.

My last custom 50BMG when it was all said and done, I could have bought two STEYR or Barrett rifles and a scope for less and saved the 12 month build time!!!

Tac-50 is for certain a nice and proven action that one could bring in along with all other components for a build or one could wait for somebody else in Canada to design and commence production of their own 50 action or as a last resort one could buy a complete rifle direct from our existing in stock inventory of which we have built over 800 that are currently in active Military service...

^^^Haha and there it is!^^^ Ross I wish the Canadian military would get on board with your 50s aswell. I love the Tac 50...but I love LRT3 more!

Sure ptg make superb product but it is alway interesting to have to option to build a rifle.

I am pretty sure that a custom build is do-able for under 8k and will perform as well as a ptg/steyr etc..

That was kinda my point though. Rather then all the time and money and hassel of bringing in a McMillan action, If you really want to build a custom just buy a PGW action and then do you'r own thing after that.

You are still going to need a barrel, and someone to chamber and thread you'r barrel. May as well buy the action and barrel from PGW already assembled then you can put it in what ever stock you want.

You could get a cadex chassis, or a McMillan stock, hey im pretty sure i seen a guy on here with a rifle from PGW with a McMillan stock on it. May as well get a stock from them also, probably get them to bed it for you since its all coming from them anyways.

Looks like we are back to buying a complete rifle from PGW again.............
