Finally got around to load development, it's shows promise. :dancingbanana:

I had Ed Begg from V-Bull precision build me a rifle somewhere around three years ago. It was initially in one of the USMC M40a1 return stocks. I shot the rifle at the BCRA Tac match in 2010 or 2011, I can't remember. I didn't do any load development at all, I got the rifle, loaded some ammo and off I went.

I could not stand shooting it with the M40a1 stock so I sold it and ended up buying an AICS off of Ed. The rifle has sat pretty much since then, 5 or 6 outings. I finally got off my ass and did load development and here's where we are, many groups that shoot in the .3's. I know there is more in it to, I'm really rusty. What I have found is that a monkey with a lobotomy can shoot a Remington. This thing is a dream compared to the old C3/C3A1 bastardization I used to run.


Here's the rifle, 6 digit Rem 700 action
Schneider 1-12 twist with M40A1 crown
AICS 2.0 folder
Harris bipod
Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25
And of course the Bubba level is silicone onto this one.

Nice! Were you up at the VFGPA doing some load development? I was up there on Thursday finishing up on mine and chronographing it. I'm looking forward to the BCRA match, it's going to be my first match and as I'm looking forward to just participating. My goal is to do anything better than a DNF. Haha.

Nope, the only range membership I have is BCRA. If I'm not at a BCRA range I'm out in the bush. These were done in the bush.

My bad, I missed that. It's a 308 and distance is about 120 yards. I couldn't find anywhere comfortable at the 100 mark.

No, all 5 round groups. Not a fan of 3 round groups, they don't tell you as much as a 5 round group.

Towel might be to prevent crumbs and table goo from migrating to rifle.

Those are seven different loads. I will go through the loads in my logbook and will post more detail after work. They are all Lapua cases, CCI Br2 primers, Varget powder and either 155SMK or 175Bergers. I still haven't shot any 175SMK yet, they may be better.
