What did you do to fix it? I cant seem to punch the front sight out at all...
I used a brass punch and tapped out the wonky front sight. The blade was angled about 30degrees plus it was bent as the front where the blade groove slides. I carefully tapped out the front sight with some WD40's help. Then found a replacement front sight blade (received from retailer) I filed the front sight groove to fit the new front sight blade slider (very tightly so it doesn't move), then tapped it in with a brass punch. DO NOT OVER FILE, this will result in a loose front sight.

This process was very tedious and I went at it figuring at worst if I broke off the front sight I could mount a scope or red-dot easily.

PM if you have more questions. I put a NC-star red dot on the rifle a couple weeks ago and it was zero'ed off the hop and stayed that way with Remington bulk ammo.
