2014 SHOT SHOW: Lancer L30 Rifles

I got to shoot the Lancer L30 at the Media Day and I must say it is a fun gun to shoot. So I went back to the booth to dig up more about it. These rifles are a bit different from the run of the mil 308 AR. First of all, unlike its mini brother L15, the receiver extension nut is now integrated directly to the receiver. The receiver is actually wrapping around the barrel nut instead of the other way around in regular AR. Second, the lower receiver comes with a modulus magazine well, similar to the L15 lower.

The match variant comes with a Bartlein barrel while the MBR version has a chromelined barrel. MSRP starts at 1975 USD for the MBR and up to 3499 USD for the LTR.

A quick illustration of how the modulus mag well works:

Neat idea. Did the mag well feel stable and secure when attached?

It slides onto the rails on both sides and is fastened by a pin!! It is not going anywhere.

It looks like a different receiver than an AR15. Too much to hope for non-restricted?

I've actually been trying to purchase a lancer L15 lower. do you know if anyone in canada carries their stuff? to my knowledge all we have is their magazines in canada. I got to play with one over the summer in washington and loved the magwells and how they did the enlarged mag release and ambi bolt catch.
