    It can be tricky to do without damaging the receiver but if you don't care about the receiver just put it in a bench vise (clamping on the trunnion) and use a big wrench with an extension arm to unthread the barrel. A little heat on the trunnion can help but only a little. If you want to save the receiver you will need to make up some sort of trunnion block/receiver protector. I used a cut length of grade 8 bolt and some aluminum to support and protect the receiver at the trunnion when I changed the barrel on my old PE90. Do not put any clamping force on the receiver body, only the trunnion.

    I had this idea almost immediately after hearing the news.
    I thought they had declared it a variety of a named prohib;
    Thus anything like an upper that will fit it is also a variant.

    Isn't that about it?

    No need to remove anything yet.

    If and when disassembly possibly comes on the radar could a technically inclined person take some very accurate measurements and possibly draw the receiver in autocad for export to CNC or a 3D printer ?

    John, could you make the receiver so that it accepts the 10 round xcr 7.62x39 pistol mag? Let's make our new 858s able to shoot 10 rounds regally. That would be such a good foch yiu at the RCMP.

    That's right! There is nothing wrong with discussing plan 'B'. At this point the outcome is unknown so it makes sense to have a contingency.

    I picked up the .22 conversion and got it working very well. Now the top bra**holes at the rcmp are taking away my fun.
