    Basic Carbine course 11 Oct

    WGT Consulting is holding a Basic Carbine course on the 11th of October at the Lower Trent valley Fish and Game Association in Frankford Ontarion.

    Location: Lower Trent Valley Fish and Game Association
    1808 Fish and Game Club road
    Frankford ON

    Timings: 0800 to 1600hrs

    Fee: 275.00 plus tax

    Payment: EMT, cash or check( check must be received 4 business days in advance)


    Introduction to Basic Carbine Safe Operation

    This course will cover the following topics:

    Safe handling, storage and transport as per RCMP guidelines;
    Mechanical operation of the Carbine;
    Position and Hold;
    Aiming and marksmanship principles;
    Target selection and position for safe operation;
    Sight management/recoil management;
    Immediate action drills for stoppages;
    Load/ ready and make safe;
    How to safely use a sling; and
    Equipment selection and recommendations.

    All equipment, tragetry and ammunition are supplied. The course is held
    at the Lower Trent Valley Fish and Game club in Frankford Ontario.

    Each student will use a Norinco M4 clone for all aspects of the
    course.

    The course is laid out so that you will have three hours of in class
    theory lectures and four hours of live training on the range. Each
    student will be allotted a minimum of 300 rounds of ammunition with more
    available if necessary. There will be an hour allocated for lunch.

    Students will need to bring and food and drinks they will require for
    the day. There are several restaurants and a convenience store within
    five minutes of the facility.


    The curriculum for the course will be as follows:

    Part one:

    Range safety brief
    Tour of the facilities
    Course administration
    Issue Kit:
    Carbine/mags
    Sling/mag holders
    Belt/dump pouch
    Hearing and eye protection

    Part two:

    Basic operation of the Carbine
    Position and hold
    Situational awareness and target position/selection
    Safety precautions and make safe
    Introduction to using a sling
    Load and unload
    Mag changes
    Stoppage drills
    Sight picture
    Sight management
    Recoil management

    Break for lunch

    Part three:

    Part three will start with dry drills and progress to live fire
    drills

    RSO brief/range set up

    10 meter drills focusing on:
    Position and hold
    Load/unload
    Stoppage drills
    Sight picture and recoil management


    15 meter drills
    Sight picture/management
    Recoil management
    Rhythm and speed (slower speed for longer distance)


    25/50 meter drills (If time permits)
    All of the above plus more on sight management and marksmanship.
