2015 Shot Show: Defiance Machine Deviant Hunter Action

Defiance Machine released it's new line of hunter actions. These are designed as a lightweight hunting action, and are available in not only medium and long action, but also in short action. The medium action is the same length as a Remington 700 short action and uses the same inlet. The short action has a bolt throw that is 0.560" shorter than the medium action and uses the same inlet as the Remington Model 7.

Defiant is also offering a Mauser-style bolt option with control round feed and a 3 position bolt safety. This is something that has been requested by many hunters since it allows the rounds to feed reliably regardless of the orientation of the action. Like with the LAW-704, the trigger must be fitted to the action by the manufacturer. However, Defiance's action will work with a Jewel trigger.

Non-Mauser versions will work with any Remington 700 trigger.

Hmmm, I've been itching to build a 416 Ruger and that Mauser might get the nod!

Defiance has been doing a great job, I'm excited to see them grow in this direction!

Very nice actions but prohibitively expensive.
