SAM Military 1911A1!!!!!!!

I am going to try out SASS Wild Bunch and ordered a SAM Military 1911A1 from Wolverine Supplies.

I just received the package today.

A bare bones 1911A1,,,,

Bjesus Wolverine, this thing is B E A U T I F U L.

The fit and finish on this baby is spotless.

No slop what so ever.

I have owned and own more than a few 1911A1's.

This SAM looks to be the closest GI copy that I have seen.

Thanks, Wolverine Supplies.

One Dam Happy Customer.

Glad to hear you are please with your SAM.

I've been saying all along they are some of the best value for dollar 1911's out there.

I've got a similar model from them, the "Military Enhanced", the only differences being, I think, an extended beaver tail, a commander style hammer, different sights and an 8 rd mag. I'm curious, what are the beaver tail and trigger made of in yours? In mine it's some kind of synthetic. Those non-traditional materials are the only thing that kind of bothers me about it, but otherwise I really like it. However, unlike you it's my first and only 1911 so I'm curious about the materials in yours, and if there is synthetic/plastic/whatever, how that compares to other 1911s you've had.

Edit: my impression of plastic parts seems to have been wrong. I'd appreciate any corroboration from others.

I got mine from P&D who got it from Wolverine. Very smooth. Will say this though, the E-lander Mag that came with it, and that wolverine has on their site is wicked for the price in comparison to lots of others.

Sorry if out of topic, just want to ask what Fiber Optic front sight for SAM OMEGA 6 can you recommend from your store?

I had them ship my Omega 6 with Hi Viz installed front and rear. I believe it was for Springfield 1911. Check with them.

The SAM pistols use a springfield cut and have a dovetail front sight to make sight changing easier. As with any 1911 part change a little fitting may be needed to get it just right!

I think we have some Hiviz in stock, or we can order in some meprolight versions which I highly recommend.

All Steel, but a few Colt's in the past had plastic trigger pads, and a plastic mainspring housings.

Don't worry, lots of manufacturers use plastic parts and I never had a problem with any parts that I had.

Thanks. I may want to swap out with steel some day but that's more aesthetics to be honest.

Edit again: I was probably mistaken.

I have been eye balling one of these for a while. Is there a comparison chart or matrix somewhere that would help me pick out which model to get? My wish list is 5 inch barrel, and extended mag release and possibly mag well. Is there a model that has all,of these or do I need to customize it myself?

None of the pistols have the extended mag release. The thunderbolt has the magwell and the 5 inch barrel.

Start off with the base model and build up from there.
Honestly I have had mine for 2 years or so? First run I believe, still works great,
By that I mean double digit seiral number. And I love it, eats anything. Very accurate and reliable.
Would gladly buy another.

Are you sure the grip safety is plastic

I think you're asking me. At first I thought so, but am now editing my earlier post which was probably quite wrong.

I think I was just confused by the feel of the finish on the grip safety. Taking another look, I think I was probably wrong about the other parts as well. In fact, there's a bit of wear where the hammer touches the top of the beavertail, and I can see a bit of shiny metal underneath.

Apologies to Mr. Wolverine and others for my misunderstanding.

Good morning David

Please confirm if SAM have used any plastic parts in any of the gums that they have supplied to us?

Thanks John

Hi John:

None of the models you are buying or have bought in the past utilize any plastic parts with the exception of the two SAS12 shogun samples you bought, but none of the 1911’s have plastic parts. Why do you ask?

Thanks very much. You can tell him it was a customer buying his first semi-auto handgun who let himself get confused! Turns out the only thing I was slightly unhappy about was wrong, so I've gone from being quite happy to thrilled about my SAM 1911!
