In this short series of videos from Silvercores Online Firearms Safety Course, they will demonstrate unload and clear(P.R.O.V.E) nine typical firearm actions, according to the Canadian Firearms Safety Course.

My instructor went over everything that was needed for the written test, but he was talking very fast. If i didnt read the manual before the course i would have had trouble comprehanding and listening to him at the same time.

My opinion: anyone who wants to do well should read the entire student manual in advance of the course.

Doesn't hurt to read the manual fully before the course. I know there are some people that like to say "you'd have to be dumb to not pass" but honestly,we don't know how dumb you are and there are a lot of dumb people out there. So...read the book beforehand as it will help somewhat.

I will just offer my own experience: after a few decade hiatus from gun ownership, I took the full course last summer with my adult son. Neither of us did any pre-reading at all and we found all the information provided by the instructor and his visual aids was sufficient to breeze through the written and practical tests for non-restricted and restricted. YMMV, but pay attention in class and take some notes and the vast majority of you will ace the course and tests as well.

Best of luck to everyone taking the plunge!

I grew up hunting and shooting but never got my FAC (that's how old I am). Now i just want to study the materials and take the test because I learned how to shoot when I was about 5.

Your background and FA history sounds much like mine. 30 years ago, I did what you're contemplating - studied the material and "challenged" the test - and came out the other end, with my RPAL. Can't do that anymore (Thank you Trudoofus) - you're stuck taking the entire course now. Will take you most of a weekend. Best of luck.

Anyway somebody is way better to take the course than try all that and mess it up.
