We went further with disassembly than I ever had on my own, and then we fixed things that I didn't even know were a problem. My op rod guide didn't begin the session with much wiggle, but now it's rock solid. It was nice to discover my particular rifle got lucky with a tight gas system. It was very satisfying to break the weld on the flash hider and get the sand out of it.
I came to the session hoping to fix two things: my rear sight windage seemed frozen and my barrel seemed over-index. I fixed the rear sights because of an off-hand comment by Dan from Wolverine who told me I needed use a screwdriver to loosen it and find a tension sweet spot - it instantly started clicking. Later on we checked the barrel's indexing and it was fine but the flash hider sucks.
Anyway my m305 went from "####ing norinco" to "oh, I can work with this".
Much thanks to Barney, and Wolverine for hosting.
