2016 SHOT Show: New cartridges and loads

Weatherby released a cartridge late last year, so while it is not "New", it is the first time the 6.5-300 Weatherby has been seen at SHOT.
Needless to say, it is a screamer.

Two years ago, Nosler introduced their 6.5 round called the 26 Nosler (6.5mm approx equals .26 inch)

Last year, they used the same case to create the 28 Nosler

This year at SHOT they announced the 30 Nosler.
Jay already has a thread going, so I wont duplicate that any further.

A pair of funky new loads for the ubiquitous 12 gauge are sure to be of interest.
Two years ago I wrote about the Multiple Impact Bullet from Advanced ballistic Concepts.

They have taken the basic idea of multiple segment projectiles tethered together by string, and created two new applications.

The orange 12 gauge round is the Stinger, a baton round. This comes in 3 different impact levels: Less Lethal, Semi Lethal, and Lethal.

The second invention is really intriguing! It is called Skynet or Drone Defense round!
The load consists of 5 segments tied together by string, similar to the Stinger or Multiple Impact Bullet rounds.
However, this uses longer strings to give a 5 foot diameter net that can be used to take out drones overhead.
The segments and net travel at about 1000 fps mv, and are claimed to give an effective height of 100 yards or more.
If they dont hit the drone, the whole unit drops from the sky slowly enough to not cause harm.

They also make a 40mm version for military and LEO.
    The 12 rounds are unrestricted.

Just the thing to keep your horny neighbour from spying on your teenage daughter!

Mixed pack, Less Lethal, Semi-Lethal, Lethal

A truly NEW round was shown at Media Day.
    It is the .510 Beck
It attracted a lot of attention just for its impressive look.
It uses a rebated rim that is the same diameter as standard 7.62x51 NATO ammo. (.473" Dia. at the rim)
This allows the standard x51 bolt and extractor to be used.
To convert an AR-10, just a barrel swap and new magazines are required.

Notice that the cartridge feeds from the centre, rather than alternating Left/Right.

The guys from 5:11 were all over this.

That .510 beck looks cool, any major manufactures picking it up or is it just handloading only?

The 510 looks like the 500 whisper. Just with a smaller rim.

That'd be this one...tough to know if it'll stick around but they do seem to have partnered up with the right people.
Owning is easy; it's doing that's hard. Remember that advice on the internet often comes from people who own things...but are not especially skilled in their use.
