Material Focus

Everything I'll be teaching you is based on the CQB matches fired by the ORA at Langemark Range, CFB Borden.

Here's the bulk of the material from my www.tacticalteacher.ca website:

CQB Clinic Description (both restricted and non-restricted focus)

CQB Competition (like in the ORA - Ontario Rifle Association) :

* Snap shooting, rapid fire shooting, modified prone shooting
* Advance and fire shooting
* rapid magazine changes (since we don't use hi-cap mags in Canada)
* gear selection, gear manipulation, gear evolution (I'm gonna surprise ya big time...)
* What works in close and what belongs in the video games
* What works for you and what does not work for you
* Why you do up all your pouches and zippers especially before using the PortaPotty

CQB Gear to Bring:

Depending upon the focus of the type of CQB clinic (we are doing restricted, but you are welcome to shoot your NR)

* Reliable , dependable, and tested RESTRICTED rifle & pistol

* Reliable, dependable NON-RESTRICTED rifle semi-auto loader: M1 Garand, Lee-Enfield, M14, M1A, Mini-14, etc (IF you want to shoot NR)
* Current Petawawa GC issued long term ATT or Short term ATT for guests, arranged by club host (chalkriver, my pointman)

* Optics (Aimpoint, EOTech, BUIS, iron sights, ACOG, ELCAN, 1x or 2x or 3x or 4x magnification scope)
* Bring over 400 Rounds of carbine ammo (distances inside 50m), bring the cheeep stuff
* Bring 100 rounds of pistol ammo (many of you experts KNOW to DOUBLE this round count) :eek:
* Ensure you have reliable iron sights (USGI for you M14 lovers, I hope) or reliable/tested/proven optics
* Your vest or webbing must hold the 5 x 5/20 or the 5 x 5/30 magazines you will need, depends on your platform.
* Your vest should have pouches for 2 pistol magazines (restricted CQB clinic)
* Your vest or webbing should be reliable (read: avoid the mall ninja, airsoft renditions) so buy quality
* Single Point sling (Vickers, BFGear, Magpul MS3 MS4)
* Bring extra ammo whenever in doubt (better yet double my suggested round count)
* a bottle of lube (CLP, oil, grease, KY Jelly)
* 2 or 3 pens/pencils
* small rag
* ear protection (electronic means are recommended)
* Ballistic glasses are mandatory
* an open mind
* a sense of humour
* Read about some gear preparation ideas here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...tted-on-19-March-2016?p=11386601#post11386601

Real bummer that they disallowed 7.62x39 there, otherwise I'd be signing up. Can't afford a new rifle right now, but I am shopping. While I have your attention, would a 9mm carbine be suitable for cqb? I'm entertaining the idea of a JR. Just thinking it would be nice to use the same ammo as my pistol.

I was thinking a 9mm Kriss Vector could be a ton of fun for this. Shares mags with a Glock and your good to go. Just need to find a used Gen 1 for a good price.

That looks like it would be a lot of fun Chalk, I think any thing that would share mags from primary and secondary would be an advantage. If only some one made a .223 pistol. I just finished building up my AR for the course, i think it might still need a vertical grip for the front. Oh and obviously a flashlight. I just Signed up for this course. Hope to see you guys there.

Thanks

Got a site reserved at Black Bear Beach Campground Friday and Saturday night. anyone else camping?

Barney

What are all the ranges (distances) we will be shooting at?

Want to do some zeroing for my sights.
ha ha ha ha ha You kidding me? :cool: We are inside 35m and advancing to 10m. I shoot/shot this/ these match(es) over the years with a 25m zero. Nice and simple. I don't even hold over for windage. ha ha ha ha LOL

And I still suck! ha ha ha :evil:

I remember now... you ran iron sights over the years with the banned over powered caliber: 7.62 x 39mm out of the SKS ... It's more powerful than a .338 Lap Mag! :eek:

So anyone still feel that we need to make sight adjustments as we advance from 35m forward to 10m ? :wave:

Cheers,
Barney

Oh Barney.....

The SKS dude was the "General", but he does run with my pack.

I was running the CZ858 with iron sights.

I am slowly starting to see your ways Master Jedi.

I will be bring a new rig this year - T97 with a BDC scope (5.56mm).

Woohoo! First clinic of the season!

I'm so looking forward ingesting more of CFB Petawawa's tasty, nutritious dirt while in modified prone. It has the best brassy aftertaste. Perhaps I will actually accomplish to hit something with a pistol this year. The Tavor will get to have some fresh air again.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
