Ammo and factory projectiles are virtually extinct for the 20X138B. Hence my early mention of this being a reloader special only.
the reasons for the caliber choice is that I already have a 20mm anti tank rifle, dies, chamber reamer and all the good stuff required to do the project.
To change to 20mm Vulcan would then require a reamer, gages, dies and then sourcing casings. Which is not that hard to do, but would then require a number of rifles being commissioned to spread the added costs.

I don't think anyone has tried to see what 20mm will do from an extreme long range accuracy point of view. Most of the 20s seem to have about an 800 yard effective range on APCs and the like. The sights on my Lahti are very rudimentary at best and the optic on the Solothurn certainly was not designed for precision shooting.
My plan is to build these as precision rifles so picatinny rails so that decent optics can be employed. Who know it may become a F class sensation?

U.S. Optics SN9 12x42x58 Great optical clarity over 200 MOA of elevation, but far to fragile for most purposes, and FFP which in my opinion is a downer.
I thought it would be the ideal real long range optic for my 50, but was mistaken.

As in all FFP scopes, the reticle increases in size optically, which then completely blocks small targets at longer distances. If the reticle obscures your target, how can you hit it? I don't use the sub-tentions as like most LR precision shooter I dial up.
I have a 3500 yard capable LRF so range estimation I could care less about as it is waaaay more accurate than using a reticle for ranging. Not to mention faster but again for real LR shooting speed is not part of the equation. At the distances I prefer to shoot at you would need VERY LARGE targets to still see any of the target that is not blocked by the reticle.
Next time you are out shooting try to see a pop can bottom at 1000 yards and you will instantly see why I don't use a FFP scope.

Is the Vulcan a more useful caliber in terms of 2500yds+????

If so, I'd vote that is a better move, even if it's another 1000$ per rifle.....but this is coming from a guy who's already said "i'm out"!!!
