I did a bunch of research and ended up with a marlin xt22. Super happy with it. Accurate and reliable for about the same price as the rest. I'm guessing all the budget bolt 22s are going to be about the same. I think the savage is the only sub $200 one though. I think I paid $225 or so plus tax for one with a wood stock. Plastic is probably cheaper.

It looks great, but I want something without a removable mag.

Savage model 60 with a tube mag?

You can often find them for well under $150. There are several places around where you can get scope mounts for them

    Find a CIL with a magazine .
They can be had for what your looking to spend.
But, moving forward a Ruger 10/22 will burn more ammo and almost as quick to load as a the CIL I mentioned.
Nothing wrong with the Savage mentioned other than it is tube fed and that can get old quick if shooting gophers in an active gopher town.
Then moving forward yet again CZ in a 455....you will have been bitten by the time you get this far.

CZ455 American Combo. Comes with a .17 HMR barrell as well. I've been pretty happy with it. However, if I had to do it again, I'd probably go straight for the Anschutz 1712 lol

For a bit more, get a Savage Mk2 FV topped with a bushnell banners 3x9. Garranty you wont regret it
Left wing, right wing, they belong to the same bird.
