    S-223 UPDATE: STALLED!

Senator Céline Hervieux-Payette's Senate Public bill is stalled. The Senator has finally retired from the Senate and the bill no longer has a sponsor.

This places the bill in a legislative limbo and it seems no one is rushing forward to sponsor S-223. The Senate must find a sponsor within fifteen (15) sitting days or the bill dies on the Order Paper.

The clock is ticking on this abomination. Stay tuned.

Other than writing letters, what is a good way to get involved with the Conservative party? Not everyone can afford to be a financial contributor.

I think it is more importent to contact your MP and join the riding association than making any financial contribution. Ideally take him/her to your local range. Let your MP know you are an active supporter, ask about his/her views on firearms, educate them if required.

They raised membership to $25 but have reversed that (if its still $25 wait a week and check again) so it should be back down to just $15. So join the party then find your local Electoral District Association (http://findaconservative.ca/conservative-associations/). Then go to their meetings. No doubt you'll find at least one other person who is there to advance firearms rights. Get to know him/her. If there isn't then you can be that person.

This is the info we need to get out to the public, so they know the type of people firearms owners are. We are not redneck hillbilly's but honest, hard working, law abiding, upstanding Canadians and shouldn't be treated as criminals because we own firearms. I'd like to see some TV advertisements, so the public can see the type of people gun owners really are.

It would be nice to set up a donation fund to produce and pay for air time on CBC and other stations to showcase firearms owners in their occupations. Doctors, lawyer, tradesman, LEO, fireman, paramedics, engineers, managers, teachers, ect. would be a good visual for the public to see.

So who are the CPC MPs who are vocal on this? They should get $xx.68 cheques.
Listen, and understand. That Liberal is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse- only fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until your guns are gone.

It is kind of scary but obvious that there are a lot of people here who don't know how bills become laws.

Here is some info from the Parliament website:

There is probably more info here than most people would ever want to know, but it is a good reference:
