I have had mine for a few years. Works great except I am a proactive repair guy. If they have a flaw I feel like fixing it.I bought it in June and Lance said that the striker fired ones were from a couple years ago

Actually they short d1cked the spot welds from the looks of it, Not enough penetration, easy fix assuming you know a welder.

I was wondering about the striker fired vs hammer fired question? I may have a striker fired Soumi. The manufacturer now recommends hammer fired units. I am curious about converting the one I have to hammer fired. Other people may be interested too.What type of flaws?

Have you never disassembled it? Pretty easy to tell with the bolt out...
