It looks like you buy them ready to go, but after each use you have to send the unit back to have it refilled/recharged.

What are you guys using these for?
I'm sure lots of guys would buy them just to have flash bangs. It is pretty neat.
Perhaps keep a few handy at the cottage to scare off bears...?
