    I can definitely test out a shotgun like just ahead of the barrel. Sound is only pressure so a shotgun shell can only make so much, just depends how it's directed for perceived loudness.

    You can get them pretty cheap online. You can even get a free sound meter app on your smartphone...

    Anything but a professional grade sound meter will not be worth the test. Tim on the MAC YouTube channel has shown this in many of his suppressor videos.

    I have a professional sound meter and am waiting for them to arrive. A friend will hopefully sacrifice one for testing.

    Hmm I might be screwed. I just googled my meter and the damn thing is $500 but it's upper limit isn't high enough.
