Hey I'm just wondering how that type of match was held. It couldn't have been at a certified range in Ontario. Was it private or crown land?
I've always wondered the legality's of a match like this. I would really like to hold one locally.
Thanks!
Medford is a federal owned military base that's how. No CFO rules there.
Had the pleasure of meeting the Cadex team, and checking out their gear. I was amazed at the knowledge the reps had of the various optics and platforms, and how Cadex has adopted some serious military tech into commercially available rifles. They put an $8500 Cadex/Leupold rifle on the prize table, and had an awesome spread of demo guns to try, including a gorgeous suppressed beast. To top it all off, Rob Furlong, yes, THAT Rob Furlong, showed up and helped the shooters with their skills, then celebrity spotted a stage for the match.
One of their team members went on to win the tactical division, against some very serious competitors, using a CADEX 308.
Great guys, incredible gear. Thanks Cadex!!!
Great having Cadex there! Amazing prize they provided!
Rob also spotted on a few stages when we were short handed.
The Liberals wrote it into law that the venue for any organized shooting event has to have CFO approval. The chances of getting that here in Ontario for private land or crown land are pretty much nil. And they would probably require every gong to have a shroud around it like they do on ranges. You need either a range that multiple distances can be shot at the same time from one firing point or a military field range like we used at Meaford or the one being used at Valcartier.
Rob Furlong's range may be capable of holding a PRS event. Might be worth asking...
I have their 338 and its amazing. Best rifle on the market.
One day I will have to take part in a match like this. Someone needs to take last place :-)
