Sorry if this has been covered but any chance of a 6.8 upper?

Not a very good one. We will look at the possibility of alternate calibers when we get time to, but the 6.8 is problematic for mags, bolts and possibly some other parts.
IF we do anything, 6.5 Grendel would be the most likely possibility.
7.62x39 is not even in consideration.

I must respectfully disagree on your assertion the 6.8 is problematic. Yes it requires a different bolt and mags from your 5.56 but that is all. The bolts do not experience any of the failures of the 7.62 and I agree stay away from it.

This is a great caliber in an AR modern sporter or anything else in a semi.

As for the Grendel which in its own right is a fine caliber but does require a bolt and Mag just like the 6.8. However it is more of a niche caliber compared to the SPC.

Thanks 6mt and notlim2424. So basically between you 2 I was able to figure out that I will be opting for the light barrel and with eventually a NF 2.5-10×42 it should weight around 8lbs9oz! Witch is an awesome weight to carry in the woods and should be plenty accurate!

Think you will be. Have a VX-R 1.5-4, nice glass and illumination. The auto illuminate with movement is awesome, battery life is good, and it's way lighter and cheaper than an SHV. Great choice.

I probably should have explained better. I was not suggesting that the 6.8 was the problem. The problem for us is acquiring bolts and mags. We will look further into supply but when we looked at this last we would have to purchase the bolts and mags retail as the manufacturers of these parts would not offer us OEM pricing.
Things change so when I get time I will revisit this. For now we are busting our balls just to keep up with what we have on the go.

I look forward to eventually getting a Grendel upper for my MV, if you end up going that route.
