Guessing by the capitalization of the letters and my somewhat limited background in chemistry the compound is Titanium Nitritride. Very corrosion resistant and very hard.

We use Ti in our processes where they are subjected to chlorides like hydrochloridic acid, low pH sodium chloride solutions, etc or alloys such as C20. Stainless steel will not stand up to this type of applications. Stainless will stand up to high concentrations of sulphuric acid but will be attacked at dilute concentrations. Should be a pretty durable finish, IMO.

yea i am aware, and DLC stands for diamond like carbon coating, google it if you want. I like how dlc and tin coatings contrast strictly from a cosmetic point of view. just a good look for a finished gun.

How thick is this coating? Comparable to chrome or is it more like a melonite? I'm sure I could google it but I'd rather hear it from someone who does it for real.
