Why wouldn't they add 1/2" to the rifles coming to Canada?

Why would they ? It could have a 40" barrel and would still be restricted...

Forgot just being semi auto they classify them as restricted. How do the ACR's and XRC's get through?

Classification has nothing to do with it being semi automatic, many semi's are unrestricted. AR15's are restricted by name. ACR's and XCR's are not.

    Cheers.

Thanks! I had thought one of the factors was the semi auto action in Centerfire cartridges.

Nope. There are several center-fire semi-auto's that are non-restricted (though not nearly enough), while many, many others are restricted, and even prohibited, solely by name. You should really familiarize yourself with this list from the RCMP, and keep the link handy for future reference.
