    PAL Refrences

So I think this is pretty simple but I'm unsure what to do. Before even taking the safety course I had it in my mind that I'd use a friend who has had his PAL for 10+ years, friend of 8 years and soon to be hunting buddy along with another longtime friend who is in the rcmp as my two references.

To me these were good bets for a ton of reasons, as I'm finishing my safety course the instructor suggests I use my wife as a reference instead. She is already listed as my partner and I wanted to have as many options for them to phone as possible.

So my question to help me figure out what to do, how often has the conjugal partner been called when not listed as a reference? Do you also recommend the wife as a reference? In the end whoever they call I have nothing to hide, just wanted to give them all kinds of options to call should they choose.

I don't think you can use your conjugal partner for the references, only for the photo guarantor.

This is directly from the application / references section:

"A reference is anyone who has known you for at least three (3) years and is at least 18 years old. However, he or she cannot be your current conjugal partner."

Just use who you originally listed.your two buddies are fine . I believe you have to put your wife's name on the app ,anyway. So they can call her,if they want to.
My two buddies called them, for the interview. They didn't contact my wife.

No problem. Just use your buddies as planned and you will be good to go.

Yeah, you're over worried about it. I get it, been there. Stick with the original plan, you'll be fine.

I concur. Stick with your buddies and post your wife as your wife.

When I applied for my RPAL, they callled my references but not my wife.

Make sure you pick your buddies wisely.
My reference told the interviewer that I was harmless except if zombies showed up. Good thing the lady had a sense of humour.

My first renewal after my divorce they did call my ex-wife. Just saying you might want to rethink that plan to short the support payments.
