    2017 Shot Show: CMMG 458 Socom

    CMMG is making some interesting ARs. After the Mutant, there is this new dedicated 458 Socom AR. From Bolt to lower receiver, everything is sized for this cartridge specifically. The pounding of the buffer to the end of the tube could definitely be felt, despite whatever muzzle brake was put on.







    The 458 Scoom mag looks like a 5.56 mag, but it cannot reliably hold 5.56. The feed lips are wider and will spill the cartridges when used with 5.56.

    What type of ammo was being used ? And is that Residue from it on the bc and chamber that can be seen in the pictures ?

    Originally ( if I remember rightly) for disabling Approaching Vehicles at roadblock checkpoints, big heavy hitters. Added plus they are just bad ass !!

    I recall reading an article a few years ago stating that the Door Kickers wanted a "one round" kill calibre..
