I ran the last batch of chinese from canada ammo thru, cycled and shot every time. split necks quite often tho, even in my mosins. I really liked the bulgarian that tradex used to sell, a tad more accurate than the chinese, much cleaner.
My SVT-40 runs OK with the Chinese ammo on gas setting 1.5
The major beef about Chinese ammo is it is damn dirty and very hard primers so the firing pin mechanism needs to be in good shape. You definitely don't want light primer strikes with this ammo!

you know way back in the day when some of us can rember SIR mail order out of winterpeg, they sold lots and lots of surplus rifles. new mosins in the grease with there kit was 29$ I believe. well I had to have a couple and got my uncle to order some as I wasn't quiet old enough. guns showed up and no idea about ammo. not available. so, believe it or not I proceded to shoot IVI 308 out of it. single load ofcoarse. and I didn't just shoot it once, I shot it LOTS like that. ofcoarse now I shudder. but it will do it
payment within 24 hours , if not i retain the right to cancel the deal
Any 7.62x54R surplus any time soon? Thanks!
I bought some steel cased S&B when I bought my SVT a few years ago when you could get them at any shop for $360, almost every shot failed to extract and the ones that didn't, failed to feed. Chalked it up to case swell/sloppy chamber and haven't tried feeding it anything since, but after reading this - I may have to take it out and try it again with different ammo.
