Now that Colt has the $32m C6A1 contract from Canada gov. We will see if they care about these anymore.
I think a lot of people just refer to the receiver markings as "roll marks" as that was how it was traditionally done.
It would have been cool to see C8A4 marked on the receiver, even though I'm not sure the guys from the hill are even using this configuration.
It would also have been cool to see:
Canadian
Forces
Canadiennes
as well as
Made in Canada
Fabrique Au Canada
I don't even speak French, but if Colt really want to tug at those sentimental heart strings with current and retired members of the CF, this probably would have pushed a lot over the edge to get one.
When I got my SA20, it was for pure sentimental reasons. It didn't have the exact markings I'd hoped for, but the whole package was close enough for me.
I still haven't fired it yet and I'll give it to my kid one day when he's old enough. Besides, there's one at work exactly like it (well, the work one has the fun switch) I get to abuse, so I can keep my own unfired.
Anyway, this is a cool package for sure, unfortunately WAY out of my price range. I'd ask if there would be an IOP, but really, I'd just be kicking tires.
Any update on these?
So correct me if I'm wrong, 1148 unit for 32 mill. Works out to 28k for one?? I'm now seeing the light at 3k for the 150 th anniversary c8 a4.
Sadly Phil from Odell Engineering (the distributor) messaged me that it won't happen this year.
