I wonder why the LOP is so long. IIRC it's 14 1/4" but the women's model is 13 7/8".

It's a standard LOP on a classic British stalking rifle. I got schooled on this myself when I had Ralf Martini build a rifle for me -- his starting point default is a LOP of 14-3/8" I believe. I was skeptical at first, but there was no denying how well that length fit me when I shouldered some different rifles in his shop. Sight acquisition in a standing snap-shooting position, particularly with irons, is noticeably faster when you're not pulling the stock back 1 to 1-1/2" back into your shoulder before you can do anything else. That said, a LOP of this length is also a fair-weather or tropical-weather length. Put on a wool underlayer, a hoodie, and a thick down filled jacket (welcome to November deer hunting in Alberta), and things do indeed seem overly long. But hey, the British know better than to hunt in -25 degree weather

I'm 6' and would hesitate at much over 13.5" for scope use.

They are very nice rifles. I'd love to have one in 275 Rigby.

We are now Rigby's official importer for Canada. We can provide dealer pricing on request to your local gun store, an we now have a fair inventory of product for those looking to handle the various rifles.
