Thankfully this rediculous farce is now pushed out another 18 months!!!
What really sickens me besides the utter UN stupidity believing that this marking scheme will somehow aid in deterring the international trade in small arms is the dip####t liberals in Canada that have twisted this whole farce into some sort of local law enforcement scam. Law enforcement in Canada NEVER asked for this in the first place!!!! Only the UN retards could have thought up such stupidity!!! And only the twisted mind of a liberal could have concocted a story that this initiative is to aid Canadian law enforcement!!!!
You can't fix stupid.
i dont want the markings on used guns, all new guns are already marked, so there is no break in production. and yes it is as easy as adding four digits. year (17) and country (CA). most importers that placed orders for this year had there guns marked at the factory for summer arrival anyways.
the only BS is used and especially collector/surplus guns that need unwanted markings. and i would fight tooth and nail that, YES these will devalue my firearms and should be exempt from the marking scam.
Saw an article on NFA that it has been put on hold until Dec 2018
It's not about money.... It's about sending a message...

Norinco has already been doing it for a while now.i haven't heard of any manufacturer marking their firearms for import to Canada??
I am guessing that the UN Bill which requires the marking of imported firearms has other sections that may not pertain to marking civilian firearms. It is not just one section of the bill they are delaying. Total conspiracy theory on my part, but why would the Liberals throw gun owners a bone, when they've been giving us the bone since they came to power. How many signatures were on the AR15 reclassification petition? A hell of a lot. So I am supposed to believe that a couple letters and phone calls to a few MP's caused Parliament to delay a firearms marking law, that really creates no political grief for the Liberals, but instead adds cost, and bottlenecks to firearms sales. Sounds like a perfect admistrative way of screwing gun owners, with minimal political backlash. There's got to be more to this delay, that's all I'm saying........
The small liberal thinkers probably just realized that bringing the massive firearms business in Canada to a screeching halt with an ill planned UN marking scheme might just lose them a few million votes if they do it too soon. Better to wait just before the election and see how they are doing in the rating polls.
The UN marking has been put off until Dec 2018, hopefully we can use the next 18 months to find an acceptable solution, rather then forget about it because it will not go away until dealt with.
