Before we get into a run away on different calibers I want to stress.
We are testing the 6.5 Grendel ONLY!!
It will not be offered until we have proven to ourselves it is viable and that we can get parts. Once we have the answers we need then and only then will be advise whether we will be offering it.

6.8 is not looking good at all. And 7.62x39 just not gonna happen period.

6.5 Grendel is a good hunting roand with about a 300 yard point blank range the nock down power for big game with good shot placement and reasonable hunting range what's not to like
I can't see why any hunter would not want one !

That's great! I was hoping for a 6.8 as well, but if you're only going to do one it's probably better that it's the 6.5. I have another rifle in 6.8, so I wanted to share ammo, but I think the 6.5 will appeal more to the long-range shooting crowd. For hunting, I don't think there's a significant difference between the two, as long as it's reliable, I don't really care.

If you can have them ready for order by June, I can buy myself one for my 40th birthday... Fingers crossed!

Quick question that has probably ben answered, is the buffer suppose to be uncaptured? Is it suppose to just drop out the lower wen the riffle is disassemble?

Yes. With running a jp silent captured spring, we rely on the jp system to retain the spring in it's self contained unit.

I don't think the question has really been brought up before, so it's a really good one.

On the modern hunter we had minor complications with standard buffers and using a buffer retaining screw from the top. To use a traditional AR buffer required additional modifications to the bolt carrier, an extra hole to be drilled and tapped in the lower, and proprietary retaining screws... When we started the modern varmint design we re-evaluated this system and chose to utilize the jp self contained system. We sell the jp captured springs as upgrades for modern hunters, but they became standard base model hardware with the modern varmint. The fewer proprietary parts involved the better support there is for a product, and options for a consumer.

The silent captured springs from jp are also much quieter, no "sproing" sound, and seem to make the recoil impulse feel smoother. I'd strongly recommend it for anyone running a modern hunter.
