I was asking Clay about the possibility of Prophet River becoming a Krieghoff dealer, and apparently they are considering this. Just wondering how many other CGN members would be interested in Krieghoff, if Prophet River was to become a dealer.

The DR market in Canada is pretty small so it is a low volume niche market. Not too many people will pop the bucks for a DR, nor do too many use them for hunting around these parts. I've never owned a Krieghoff but do think they are a wonderful firearm. The safety is similar in principle to the Blaser decocker but Kreighoff got it right where Blaser missed the mark entirely with their S2. I went with a more traditional design and went with a Heym.

In any event, Prophet River has been good to deal with and I applaud any dealer that wishes to stock some higher end rifles to choose from. The more, the better!!!!

It's already a pretty crowded field with half a dozen Krieghoff dealers already operating in Canada.

https://www.krieghoff.com/krieghoff-dealers/

Calgary Shooting Centre Ltd.
G & R Sales
Lawry Shooting Sports
Martini Gunmakers, Ltd.
The Gun Dealer
Wolverine Supplies

Just how active are most of those dealers? The only one that actually lists any inventory is The Gun Dealer, and most of those dealers don't even mention Krieghoff on their websites.

As we are mentioned here I would like to point out that we do carry Krieghoff in stock.
I understand this is Clay's forum and please delete asap if you feel this post is inappropriate.

I think real issue is not the lack of dealership, but lack of authorized service centers in western Canada... I have two K80s, had to send them to Precision Arms in King City for maintenance.

He does a great job by the way...!

I am tempted to sell a bunch of rifles to purchase a nice double in 9.3x74 or 375hh.

Go with 375 H&H, I've hunted European wild boar with both calibers in double rifle; .375 H&H has more reach and versatility over 9.3x74 in my experience...

Thanks for the info. I have both the a 375 and a 9.3 in bolt actions and you are right about that. Both are great however. Hopefully I win the lotto this week and I can buy one of each.

Does anyone know what most 375 doubles rifles are regulated for? What grain bullet?

I prefer rimmed cartridges in DRs so I went with one of the barrel sets in .375 flanged mag. 300 grain TSX clock at 2450 fps out of one barrel and about 30fps slower out of the other barrel. Very nicely regulated at 50 yards and I am comfortable with it out much further with a 3 MOA RMR riding proudly atop the rib!!

The DR thing is HIGHLY addictive once you get your head and wallet around the entry fee!!! It's not for everyone though. These are balls on hunting rifles and the paradigm is very different from the tac driving bolt rifles many have become spoiled with. Target rifles they ain't although individual barrels can perform very well indeed.

Oh, and yes!!! Forgot to mention that Prophet River had a good supply of quality .375 FL Mag brass in stock that is now keeping my baby shooting!! Good Norma brass and at a reasonable price too!!

I am actually more interested in their shotguns.

I would consider a Kriegoff Big 5 Double Rifle as I've heard they are one of the more affordable European options.

How do they compare pricewise to Heym, Merkel or someone like Chapuis?
