Can you pick your own lawyer?
I'd want Burlew or Friedman going to bat for me not some on the cheap flunkie with the ink still wet on his law degree.

If you want to work with a lawyer who is not on the panel there are two options. The insurance company will talk to the lawyer you want and see if they will become a panel lawyer. If they can't come to an agreement you can still use them but the policy will only cover a max of $350/hour.

For the folks who are challenging what is being offered, perhaps you can offer up wording that would appeal to you and maybe Zach here, who has been very open and responsive, can provide some feedback as to how their policy compares...then you can make an objective decision if it is right for you and Zach will have some feedback on possible ways to improve their offering.
