What's the magnification like on 8x? Any fisheye, darkening or blurring around outer edges?

Newbi question. Do you get much advantage over the 1-6 for regular shooting up to 400 m.

Distance I can't comment on, however I prefer the reticle on the 1-8 over the 1-6.

I have seen posts people saying it about the raticle. Don’t fully understand what’s the issue with 1-6 reticle. Just trying to decide between 1-6 and 1-8.

I like the reticle on the 1-8 better. I rarely go over 4x, so I shoot with viper pst gen 2 1-6x most of the time now. I still have the SE 1-8 but sold the 1-6 when I bought the viper.
