    Russian SKS pin location?

Hi Canada Ammo, thanks for the customer appreciation sale. I received my case of non-corrosive Norinco 7.62x39mm ammo, and I'm seriously considering a second SKS.

My question is, how is the magazine pinned on the rifles you stock? Is it a rivet through the base plate, or a post pinned into the follower?

My main concern is aesthetics, because the rivet is just ugly. My SKS has the pinned post in the follower, which I greatly prefer.

    Thanks!

First off, thumbs up for the username, that show is great.

From what I've seen, if they're the more recent refurbs with bbq paint, which is what most are selling these days, they'll have the pin on magazine follower. If they're blued, they have that massive rivet in the floorplate thats had a grinder taken to it, but the blued finish is obviously more desirable.

Speaking from my own personal preference, but a blued one and swap out the magazine for one with the pinned follower, lots of them for sale on the EE, couple vendors have them as well

Thanks! I just have to catch up on season 3. Funny how every handgun and rifle in the show is a Glock or an M4.

My SKS was my first gun, and I lucked out and picked a nice one. Dark hardwood stock that matches the gas tube, 1953 Izhevsk, blued (no BBQ paint), with the pinned follower. Based on what you've said, I should keep it nice and get a second one as a shooter.

I'm just waiting to hear back from Canada Ammo.

I just bought 4 blued sks, pinned follower, it depends on who the importer was as to how the mag capacity is reduced! Canam will tell you what theirs is! Good find on the izzy, not quite as many of those around!

Thanks Canada Ammo. I've been hitting the 500yard steel gong at my range 1 out of 3 times with the 80 rounds I've put through the rifle, with iron sights!

No malfunctions, and I haven't cleaned my SKS yet in a week. :D
