ATRS "Deathgrip" tripod rifle rest now in production

Given the explosion that PRS style shooting is experiencing we have been paying attention as well as participating in this new'ish rifle game. It seems to have an unending amount of specialty gizmo's being used to help the shooters.

Looking at the rifle rests that many shooters are using, it soon became apparent that 1 stood out from the rest. A fairly simple design but it works, so why not improve on it, make it in Canada and offer it at a better price? Hence the "Deathgrip" rifle rest was born.

The differences apart from country of manufacturer and price are, rather than using round bars to act as a slide for the jaws, we being machinists, seeing our machine vises every day, figured that the vise makers of expensive precision milling vises used a dove tail or T slot for a reason rather than round bars. So ours employs a T slot for the vise halves to travel on.

To not mar the rifles finish and to attain an even better grip on the rifle a better polymer that has a slightly sticky feel to it is employed.
The small triangular thumb screw used to tighten the vise had sharper edges than we like so we enlarged the thumbscrew to provide more leverage to lock the rifle into the rest securely, and radius-ed all the edges for a smooth finish to eliminate any possibility of a cut fingers.

The entire vise is skeleton-ized in order to keep the weight to an absolute minimum. It is set up for both conventional sizes of camera tripod mounting screws, the aluminum parts are all hard anodized.

Priced at $350.00, we are now taking orders. First production run should be finished and ready to ship out within the next 30 days.

The photos do not do this product justice, but for late Friday afternoon should give you an idea.

Looks very well made, however not enough to justify $350 when other mounts already established in the US sell for $100-$150 usd.

I'm very interested! Any recommendations on a tripod to go with this beauty?
Would the vortex summit XLT handle this?
