Best is subjective when all things are considered. Price, service, repairs. Weight. Etc etc
Depends on criteria needed. What's the role. What rifle. Are you using. What's the job entail. Environmental considerations as well.
S&B glass is considered the gold standard. Ziess/Hensdolt kahles and also premium leupold scopes are up there too. There are a lot of great companies out there. When price is not a factor or consideration. What's the Best scope becomes interesting, its subjective.
Side by side comparison of equal glass in power is what too look at.
For example 1-8 class compared too say the top 5 companies that makes one. Which is better.
S&B, leup, USOptics. Etc etc.
This thread turned out to be funny! Me thinks people get too hung up on a particular brand and lose objectivity. I like Leupy MK4 but view them as a good quality price point scope after buying a few Swaros and a couple of S&B. Leupy = sloppy turret mushy clicks but does pass box drill test and glass is decent. Everything has a price, place and purpose. Superb warrantee though on the Leupy!!!

Leupold is defintely nice stuff,, just not up there with the big boys of the military grade optics,Kahles are and the likes are well above Leupold in the military grade stuff, but we dont all need that mind of high end scope, fact is,,90% of us will shoot the same with either lower end Leupold or top of the line S&B,it's that 10% top tier guys who really need military grade stuff, for us mere mortals plain old Leupold is plenty.
