This DPMS 3G1 A3 AR-15 Upper Receiver Assembly comes fully assembled and ready to install on any standard small pin, mil-spec lower receiver. Designed to be the ultimate configuration for use in 3 Gun Competition, the 3G1 features components specifically selected to produce high performance, absolute reliability and increased speed. These include an 18" MK12 Heavy Barrel machined from 416 Stainless Steel that is button rifled with a 1 in 8" Twist for stabilizing heavy match bullets, a Rifle Length Free Floating VTAC Modular Handguard and an efficient Miculek Muzzle Brake to reduce muzzle rise upon firing for faster recovery and improved shot split time. While the 3G1 surely shines for use in competition, the qualities that allow it to excel in that role make it equally suitable for selection as a defensive or hunting platform as well.
The forged 7075 T6 Aluminum A3 Upper incorporates a Flat-Top Picatinny Rail to accept the shooter's preferred optic, while the Single Rail Gas Block is compatible with flip-up or fixed iron sights. The 3G1 uses a Rifle Length Gas System for smoother functioning and a softer recoil impulse, both desirable qualities in a competition rifle. The upper comes complete and ready to fire with a bolt carrier group, charging handle, dual sling swivel studs, forward assist, shell deflector and ejection port door.
