NEA 102 Caliber Specs? .308 or .7.62X51? Or Can Either be used? (Answer Post #27)

I got in on the preorder with the understanding this was chambered in .308. Now NEA has had a Q&A session and they indicate it is chambered in 7.62X51 only. It begs the question can we use .308 cartridges in this firearm safely and what impact would it have using those .308 rounds have on the mechanism if one was to use the .308 rounds regularly. I was hoping to possibly use it for hunting and not 7.62X51 severely limits what rounds you can use. Also what effect would using heavier (heavier than 150-160 gr bullets) for hunting have on it. These questions need to be answered as it is very disappointing if one can't use .308 win ammo in these as was indicated in the ad when they were sold. Awaiting your reply.

EDIT: ***Answered and confirmed both can be used in the NEA 102 in Post #27***

    Thanks Ryan.

I wouldn't worry about running 308 win through it....that is what I'll be using in mine.

I want it from the horses mouth or the mouth of the one I am buying it from so they can't reneg on warranty because "you weren't using the correct ammunition".

NEA102 308 WIN Semi Auto Non Restricted

This is how the rifle is advertised. So one would assume it is capable of .308

No, uh, no they're not. Very similar, but not the same.

.308 runs higher pressures than 7.62x51, just the way 556 runs higher than .223
