A gentle bump to the thread I thought to update everyone here on my experience with a first gen Desperado so far...

All I've used so far is buckshot and birdshot and I have the same tinfoil looking crap coming out of the barrels, no matter the cleaning.

When I clean the barrel I believe I see it narrowing in the last two inches, so has anyone tried slugs in these with any measure of success? I'm a little worried that I'll end up with a busted barrel if I have to use slugs...

Also used it with the chiappa's x-caliber inserts which work great (they are 8" btw - I'm curious how much longer they can be made given the narrowing of the barrel at the tip - but even so, this length works, CanadaAmmo hint, hint). They can be set up two ways - ejector catching them and bouncing them out after a shot and not. Personally, I like the ejector popping them out. Those inserts are not exactly quick to reload, so I'm finding the best way to use them is as a cartridge - pop the entire insert out and put a new one in for the reload. Then reload the inserts as time allows. The flat blade screwdriver on the leatherman is a good reload tool since I have one on me all the time anyway.

The stock has already collected quite a collection of scrapes and dings - that wood is soft and the finish is not durable. I really think these would have been better with a fiberglass stock. Nonetheless it's a beater gun that I find myself enjoying despite my prejudice against chinese and turkish guns (don't have any except this one) - it's great for walking or riding in the woods with.

To repeat what some others have asked:

Any chance of longer barrels? Either as add-ons or bundles, for the Desperado? Hard to beat the price!

We can order a few and see how they sell on the next run.

Will you ever be getting the hammerless gen 2 backpackers in??

I'm waiting on an arrival date for those. If there not being ordered what was the issue with them?

Please bring back a revised Chinese Grizzly 870 clone.

I'm a turk pump owner myself, but I'm tired of seeing them offered in nearly every gun shop as the only cost effective SBS.

Mainly because the grizzly is nearly 3 times the cost of the turk guns now

So it would cost us $900 to buy one today if you brought them in?
