"Person shaped" Silhouette targets - Illegal?

Not illegal and its usually clubs owns rules along with only one round in the magazine, no rapid fire etc... That have these kind of rules.

I regularly shoot Fig11, used for CQB matches as well as the target used by the RCMP (blue or green) and others.

Many years ago, my range had changed the policy of shooting human targets. I discovered this while shooting zombie targets. I was told

Range officer: the CFO says we can't shoot human targets anymore.
Me: it's not human, it's paper

Range officer: but it looks human
Me: it's a zombie (it was a bin laden zombie)

Range officer: but it looks like somebody and it could offend that person or others
Me: what if I shoot targets that are enlarged pictures of myself?

Me: that's what I thought. Dumb rule.

I have since left that range due to dumb rules.

I hardly think the Bin Laden zombie would be in the least bit offended, but you made a good point with the self portraits...lol

You will notice a difference in IPSC targets between the US and Canada, the Canadian (and many European) have no B zone or head. IDPA targets have so far avoided the angst and continue to have a head.

In many clubs the targets are allowed but only for shooters certified and participating in either sport.

In my PPC days the entire back range was full size or scaled human silhouette, B34 and B27 targets. Again, those were only allowed for PPC competitors.

My current club rule is 'any target approved by the executive' and there hasn't been an issue with at zombies, silhouettes, IPSC or IDPA targets, likely because

Black sillohuette targets are considered racist in the States, blue sillohettes are PC.

The first time i heard this was from a BLM post that black targets train ppl to shoot at blacks only...

Which club is this so that I can avoid it like the plague

Port Coquitlam. That is on the public range. Rules are different on the lower ranges. It's a good club. Too busy for me but good otherwise.
