This is just like buying a firearm, we need your PAL info, etc.

No. We regester them and engrave the FIN number the RCMP gives us. You can choose the Serial number you want later when you complete it.

so what would be the point of these today, they are registered anyways, they cost as much as a complete 1911 Norinco, then buy the tooling, and parts to finish it,all told ,the price of a new Colt or something similar, seems like a lot of risk of messing it up for no added benefit,
Do any parts come with this maybe,?i just wonder what the point would be,

Some people enjoy a challenge. You always had to register them anyway, some people enjoy the challenge of making it, and the pride of ownership of something you built from pretty much the ground up.

Not sure if I would tell people "I build" something if I only put in 20% of the total effort. I will probably tell people I "helped to complete" the project. That is besides the point anyway....I think the original lure for most if not all was you can complete the project and have 30 days to register and during that 30 day period you feel the thrill of somewhat owning something no one else knows besides you.
