I saw another thread on CGN about night shooting out west.
Can we do this in Ontario? This course looks amazing and I'd love to try it here

As one of the organizers of the DSSBCA shoot I can tell you we are VERY fortunate to be able to host this event... The range we use is fairly remote, yet close to the city, and it is nestled in a valley, so the noise is largely contained.
It is an EXCELLENT chance to experience things you normally don't, like how much a 600 lumen light will blind you when it hits a white corplast wall!!!!! Good luck getting it together!
i only know of one range that has got CFO permition in ontario to do this.
other then the Base.
Many ranges have restrictions on hours of operation - noise and neighbours.
There are serious safety concerns, running matches at night vs daytime. You must be satisfied that participants are competent. Screen entrants.
Exactly... This is why DSSBCA instituted CASE (Competency and Safety Exam). To be eligible for the night shoot you must have participated in a number of matches as well as completed a number of volunteer set ups as DSSBCA is completely non-profit and needs to encourage participation from the field.
Ya, between CFO, neighbors, and insurance I expect it's a minefield for a range.
How about on private land using NR guns only? We could still learn the tactical aspects like the BC guys did.
Barney? I'm interested if you would consider offering this...
@PhatEagle, if I can't do this in Ontario I would consider flying out west. Sorta a bucket list item for me. Please pm me if I could be included next year.

Keep in mind that these events are only possible due to a core group of people who donate a big chunk of their personal time to organize and run these events. As well as the support of our generous sponsors.
I cant see any problems with this idea,
This “ idea” has been going on here, once a year, for quite a few seasons now. Full safety briefings, fully attentive and on the ball ROs and limited to extremely experienced and competent shooters one at a time. Rambo personalities and yahoos do not do well in our sport.
I hope your comment was meant in jest.
