    S&w 617

Would it be possible to bring in a special run of 4.2 inch barrel 617 for the Canadian market

Does S&W actually make a 4.2" barrel for this model? Thought it was 102 mm vs the 105 needed?

    Do they sleeve the 357?

    I have a 4.5" one that a friend had a well regarded gunsmith cut down from a 6" 617.

It's much more nicely balanced than the full size.

But in the end I think that I prefer the classic model 17 - long barrel without the obesity

I had the 6inch 617 and it was to front heavy the 4.2 inch barrel would balance nicely

My preference for a special 4.2" model would be either a Model 18 Combat Masterpiece or the stainless version thereof (hypothetically a Model 618). That would be a nice understudy to my Model 66-8.
