Wow! I'm delighted to see how this thread has taken off!
OK, lets crowd source this right now.
I'll dig out my notes and post again soon.

For now, I am thinking I do NOT want to simply duplicate to M&M gun.
I want to create something new, of our own.

My temporary working name was (last name) Modular Sporting Rifle, RMSR.
But I am fine with a name change.

I intend for it to be several calibers, and an easy barrel change, hence the Modular title.

Would there be an interest in a rifle that swapped out the magwell area as well as the upper? To maximize the use of a single lower since that’s your grip, trigger, and LOP. You could have a STANAG magwell, AK magwell, Glock magwell and various others. Then design uppers to work with one of the magwell options. It would be difficult to design but you’d sell a lot of conversion kits I’m sure. And a new round doesn’t need a new rifle or FRT, just another magwell and upper.

    Man, Gun owners are fickle.

Think about it, ALL NR Canadian made black guns are limited production, and very expensive.
The market is Just too small.

Even the most reasonable priced NR rifle, which mostly uses standardized parts (BCL-102) is $1800, and it has a market elsewhere in the world.

Any other NR Canadian Black rifles are $$$.

Sure it could be done, but The R+D and Machining required would make it cost prohibitive.

American companies can do it because if the potential customer base, which Canada does not have.

It would be really easy to just dismiss this as the usual Can. "It sucks to be us" whining.
But that doesnt answer a nagging question I have:

WHERE DOES THE COSTS COME FROM?
    Daver mentions the R&D.
Yet there is nothing truly NEW with this.
It is a gas operated semi, just like many before.
We are not building inter-galactic space ships here.

Would be cool if it shared some comanality of sorts with say an AR or AK platform so end users could change things up as they saw fit!

Why reinvent the wheel. Use Nodak Spud aluminium AR180 lowers and just design an modernized upper. Ability to mount optics, move the charging handle, put a rail or mloc front hand guard and we’re off to the races.

First step will likely be the AR180B lower, then the upper.

Full gun price will be likely be under $1000.

I will also have them pull the sample M10X we have here and have a look. Maybe do it as well, with a few changed to lower the price
