I've seen a lot of positive feed back for the axis. But usually if I want to check out a rifle I start with reveiws on Cabelas. The 783 rates slightly higher with twice as many reveiws but wouldn't be scared of either. Savage is lighter and has a 1:12 twist compared to a 1:14. If you plan to walk for calling coyotes then the lb lighter doesn't seem like much but every little bit helps. Possibly buying used and getting a higher quality rifle or saving more money for a higher end rifle is a good idea too. Lots of good deals on gun sites like this.
