These guns keep getting me interested but I watched a review of this bad sally and the ergonomics even standing, to straight pull the action look much more awkward that with a standard bolt gun, the switch from pistol grip - slide - pistol grip is farther than a bolt gun. The pump in 300blk Id be interested in as a bush gun but this one I just don't see, especially with the new NR "EH-R" that wolverine has.

not sure what vid you saw, but the few I watched it looked fairly easy to manipulate, myself as a right handed shooter...I am interested in trying it with the charging handle on the left, with the curve down...seems like a guy could maintain the eye/hand position for shooting...while manipulating the action with the left. Leaning on a tree with the barricade stop mounted on the right....or off a bipod.....seems like it would be a great way for fast aimed steady follow up shots....while maintaining grip and eye position while cycling.

I'll definitely get one...and if this proves to be true..I'll replace both my bolt 223 and 308 with this

also maybe a custom knurled knob with a screw off it...might be able to drill/tap a hole in the curved charging handle to screw in a knurled knob (if theres enough meat on the OEM charging handle)...to make it even easier to manipulate....especially with winter gloves.....this might just be my perfect hunting rifle

Let's go IRG......get the ball rolling on a FRT...just like you guys did with the PAR's

I hope its a simple barrel swap to 10 inches and then do a fixed stock for OAL requirements. Nice short barrelled Bush gun.
Wouldn't changing the barrel to one less than 18.5" from the factory installed barrel make it restricted regardless of OAL?

    Nope:
According to the Criminal Code, a restricted firearm is:
a.a handgun that is not a prohibited firearm,
    b.a firearm that
    ◦is not a prohibited firearm,
◦has a barrel less than 470 mm in length, and
◦is capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner,

c.a firearm that is designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm by folding, telescoping or otherwise, or
d.a firearm of any other kind that is prescribed to be a restricted firearm

Only c might apply but it's >660mm. You could go out of your way to make it restricted with a really short barrel and no buttstock but out of the factory it's NR. Not sure of the point of it though with the 180 available on the market.

If a Conservative doesn't like guns, they don't buy one. If a Liberal doesn't like guns, they want them banned.

Every gun has its purpose and I see what troy was doing in making a AR variant that is Canada an NY/Cali legal but i believe we have better options. The video above is what I watched. Im a firm believer in forend control when it comes to accurate off-hand shooting as well as off a rest. With the style of reloading that this gun requires it would take lots of practice, a pump gun and bolt guns are assisted back on target by the forward motion of the action and hands, more so on pumps. This gun requires you to release the bolt while pulling back and then move your hands, lessening the forward motion and increasing the rearward energy pulling back on the gun instead of pushing forward to your target and bringing you out of the shooting form.
    3:19...........
3:15-:35 somewhat controlled fore grip maintained. Would work half decent for hunting although the pump would be better with two hands grip maintained.
3:35-4:00 rear grip maintained, POA all over the place. Off a bipod or rest it might be ok but still didnt look great.

Its a nice gun and happy to see them in Canada, a 300 BLK PAR I could get on board with for a bush gun but this one isnt for me.

Rampart was discounting the 300 BLK PARs last August before discontinuing retail sales altogether. Some of us bought them as donor rifles to convert to short barrel rifles in 5.56 for the novelty factor. 300 BLK would make more sense ballistically, but the 10.5 barrels weren't as commonly available at that time. And at least for me, ammo simplification makes sense for what is just a fun novelty item. Stories of people blowing up their guns by mistakenly chambering 300 BLK into their 5.56 guns scare me.

PS: If people are interested in 16" 300 BLK PAR barrels, there are at least a few orphaned from the conversion projects by forum members.

Some one needs to make a replacement charging handle that moves it closer to or behind the trigger group.

If you could keep the gun supported in your front hand, and just move your hand back and forth (think biathlon gun) it would be much easier. Or just stick to the PAR.

I’d get one of these, appeals to me more than a normal bolt gun. Plus there’s no need for a chassis.
