This would be a fun way to shoot rats at night.

I picked up a 3-14 X-sight II on the weekend and bolted it down to my Sage EBR, range conditions were -23/-25....

Handled 100rnds of .308 168gr match ammo just fine.

I'm likely going to step up to the new model as I like this one so much, being able to mount with standard rings and having that 3" of eye relief opens it up to most of my hunting rifles not just the rifles that have a rail on top...

.....and yes the night vision while completely under whelming even on a clear night with a half moon over my shoulder does work very very well with the new IR illuminator included... 200yrds is quite attainable and distant objects like my neighbours shop with yard lights around it stand out with enough detail to just barely spot his dogs walking around... 1/2 a mile away.

Initial results are very good IMHO... Long term tho is anybody's guess.

So how does the focus on this thing work? I'm not talking the magnification. I have a gen 1 that is a nightmare. The focus ring is at the front and you have to hold the rifle like a rocket launcher to adjust the focus then re-shoulder the rifle. Hopefully they have some better system by now. At least it looks like it might be lighter.

My worry is how Does it handle sub zero tempatures? I shoot and hunt in weather anywhere from +30 to -35. Anyone know how these batteries and scopes will handle sub -25?

Guys. These are pure junk. Heavy as crap and have multiple issues. Go on the varmint forums. Save yourself money and walk away.

Hey, any chance you could point out exactly what their flaws are? Have you used one yourself? How did it handle? Exactly how heavy are they in comparison to other "Recommended" models or brands?

Kinda hard to know what you're knocking without some data to back it up.

These new models finally fix a lot of the issues / complaints with previous generations - that I know of, and it's lighter than before. It's comparable in weight to other rugged 30MM/34MM 50mm objective scopes.
