I just used to put a bit of electrical tape around the forend so it didn't end up on the ground. Good fun/value for 300$.
Good to see you're enjoying yours, mine was probably a lemon or a very early model.
I will NOT buy a shotgun with an internal hammer so this was an overall good choice for a fun gun.

My forend stays on and a small .22 cloth bore patch in the latch stopped the rattle.

Finally got a chance to shoot mine a couple of months ago. She's a beast, but manageable.
